A chauffer driven car is definitely one comfort worth vying for.But when one is blessed with someone, with the likes of Mr Sabeeruddin,it can be anything but comfort,or anywhere near it.
God forbid,if one should come across some one more laid back in life than him.To an extent such that when on a monday morning,I call him up to find out why he hasnt turned up,he very coolly tells me "Aaj tho Sunday hain na..!!". God was kind to me,so I dint hit the roof with rage (normally i never do it but there are exceptional days and then Mr Sabeer always made sure he was trying hard).Eventually I did manage to convince him about it being a Monday and reached office late.
I believe Silence is golden, myself not being very talkative. But then, when you are on the receiving end,you can't be too sure about the golden part ;),because for all you know, the guy could be hard of hearing!Realization dawned late when to my numerous queries about him(Sabeer!! who else!!??) not knowing the route to a certain place(this one is common with guys :p) I got no answers. Well,I am still not sure if Sabeer's problem was the ENT one or the general guy thingie.
On a different occassion, he nearly killed me with claustrophobia. The clever dude actually turned on the heater (when I wanted the AC on), on a day when summer was at its peak in hyd (some guts I tell u....and on second thoughts ...suicidal tendencies too!!) .He was also blessed with the ability, to give you your bumpiest ride on the smoothest of roads. I pity my car, what all it had to go through...poor thing!!
Well the list of experiences will go on and on,but then am done with all the Sabeer bashing..so let me just to tell you,how it came to and end. Hmmm....... one fine day, just like that...he did not turn up,and thats that!!(can you imagine!!) Thats how it ended!! No phone calls ..nothing...
I have had no news of him,and its been close to 3 years now(not that I have been trying hard ;)
Come to think of it, it wasn't really unexpected..you see, he was just being himself!!

AN intersting man this Mr. Sabeeruddin;the likes of whom, mercifully, are in millions in this wonderful BHARAT.May their tribe still increase so that the increasing software engineers of BHARAT retain their human traits and emotions instead of becoming robots or currency-note churning ATMs!
Hope to see other characters in your subsequent writings. You must write more since you write so well.
God bless you.

His core competency was in driving and hope he did that well. Maybe he learnt on a Willy's Jeep or a rickety M&M. Swanky new add-ons in cars these days aren't very comfy even for the newbies. We owe them a lot, who help us and expect, not even a dime.
I remember Sabeer...
Though havent had the pleasure to experience his escapades though...
You have painted a pretty amusing picture of Sabeer though...I cant comment on how he really was but the picture is good...
Hoping to read more about other unusual characters you have had a chance to meet...
Keep 'em coming!!!
i think u can blog some u know
it has been a while
Well written article.
Good one...sums up how most of the drivers and house maids behave. I liked the part "He was also blessed with the ability, to give you your bumpiest ride on the smoothest of roads"...could not stop remembering some one I knew who had a similar ability with added features.
